Hi everyone! Here are the beautiful schedule wallpapers that Mimmi has made for us this year that we can use to adorn our desktops. Please click on the image to see the image at full resolution. Taking the Lead

This post is a copy of the same one made in Genghis Club on Facebook.

Hello,

A couple of emails later after the long advisory session revealed that teachers are disappointed in our dismal record of engagement with the wider school community thus far. Academics is important. Being a good academic student is necessary to excel in any school. However, another huge component of the IB is community, action and service. And, apparently, this is a major shortcoming for the class.

Our class is, perhaps uniquely, a very inward-looking class. We’ve always cared very little about being involved with the affairs of the school. There’s nothing wrong with that, at least in the MYP, but there are expectations that as a class grows older we take more action and become more engaged. So far we haven’t. We’re still mostly the same class that we were in sixth grade: enthusiastic, certainly, but not about volunteering or taking action or community & service.

This year no one in G9 sold raffle tickets for the Fun Fair. We weren’t even represented in the Community & Service part of the assembly two weeks ago. Our involvement in Student Council itself has also been very limited. It’s clear that this has to change. We should be a class that leads, not one that follows; a class that points, not one that nods; a class of action, not one of stillness.

Personally, I believe that as a class we work better as a large group. (At least we tend to be more coordinated, have more motivation and accomplish larger things). So together we could change this. I’m open to any ideas. Give me yours.

G9 Bake Sale Preparation

The date for the upcoming bake sale is January 27th which gives us the weekend (25th-26th) in order to prepare for this. Our goal will be to raise around 5000 baht. This means that there are some numbers we need to look at if we’re going to achieve our goal.

Here’s the list of groups and the things that’s going to be cooked:

  • Group 1- Jopang, Veronica, Fern, Paan, Antonia, Tiya: Variety of cookies
  • Group 2- Ken, Por, Mint, Mimmi: Nutella brownies
  • Group India- Rajat, KK, Aditya, Anush: chocolate chip cookies, samosa, brownies
  • Group 4- Iya, Indy, Pat M., Peter, Kuldeep, Dylan: Cake, cup cakes, chocolate chip cookies
  • Group 5- Pun Pun, Pat K., Praew, Sign: Blueberry pie, chocolate chip cookies

There seems to be a lot of groups wanting to bake chocolate chip cookies. I ask that if you can bake things other than chocolate chip cookies, then please bake something else; we don’t want a chocolate chip cookie overload. If possible, please send me a finalized list of what you’re going to bake. Group 2 will be responsible for making banners and decorations.

A few reminders:

  • Please make sure that you prepare all your ingredients before you come to bake. It’s a severe lack of responsibility if you come to school on Monday saying you have nothing; you’re going to let us all down.
  • REFRIGERATE your products or do anything that’s going to make it last, especially if you’re baking on Saturday: we want these to be eatable on Monday.

Thanks.
